Dark ruby in color, the 2006 Climber Red features enticing aromas of blackberry and spice while juicy flavors of raspberry and black cherry are the introduction to this well balanced wine. Intense notes of black fruit, cocoa and espresso commingle on the mid palate as the integrated tannins carry the ripe fruit flavors through for a long luscious finish.
The majority of the fruit for the 2006 Climber Red comes from Somerston Vineyard, located 10 miles east of the Silverado Trail in the Napa Valley. Somerston Vineyard is planted between 1,000 and 2,500 feet elevations, creating a cool micro-climate.
The wine was aged in a mix of used and new oak barrels for 18 months.
The Zinfandel and Syrah base in the 2006 Climber Red blend provide a dark ruby red color, aromas of cherry and spice and ripe juicy tannins. Cabernet and Merlot add depth and firmer structure on the palate, giving the wine a strong and lasting impression. Petite Sirah adds a coating of sweetness and a long, juicy finish.
